Businessman and Texas legislator Craig Goldman has won his congressional race in North Texas, making him one of three Jewish Republicans in Congress. This marks the first time since the early 2000s that the Republican Jewish representation in Congress has grown to three members. Goldman’s victory in the 12th District, which spans Dallas-Fort Worth, was a decisive one, defeating Democrat Trey Hunt by a 64-36% margin. Goldman succeeds long-serving Rep. Kay Granger, who has been a pro-Israel voice in the House.

Goldman will join Reps. David Kustoff of Tennessee and Max Miller of Ohio, a notable expansion for Jewish Republicans in Congress. In the early 2000s, Republican Jews like former Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia had prominent roles, but the number dwindled over the years, shrinking to one by 2009. Goldman’s win now represents a resurgence of Jewish Republican voices in Washington.

Republican Jewish Coalition Celebrates

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), a strong supporter of Goldman, celebrated his win. In a tweet, the RJC expressed pride in his victory, stating it “expands Jewish Republican representation.” The RJC has been actively promoting Republican candidates, investing a record-breaking $15 million this election cycle. This push was rooted in the belief that Democratic policies on Israel and antisemitism in the U.S. would sway Jewish voters toward Trump and the Republican Party.

Goldman’s Distinct Position on Foreign Policy

Goldman has also distinguished himself within the GOP by openly supporting continued U.S. aid to allies abroad, including Israel and Ukraine, in contrast to the more isolationist views rising within parts of his party. This aligns with the RJC’s agenda, emphasizing the importance of strong U.S.-Israel ties and a proactive stance against antisemitism globally.

A New Chapter for Jewish Republicans in Congress

Goldman’s election to Congress, alongside Reps. Kustoff and Miller, represents a resurgence for Jewish Republicans and reinforces the RJC’s goal to amplify Jewish Republican perspectives on issues such as Israel, national security, and foreign aid. With this election cycle complete, both Jewish Democrats and Republicans continue to shape their influence within Congress and among American Jewish voters.
