Israel's Defense Ministry released statistics on Tuesday breaking down the details of the approximately 12,000 wounded individuals who have received treatment since the Swords of Iron War began on October 7th, 2023. The numbers show that 93% of the wounded are men, 66% are reservists, and 51% are between the ages of 18 and 30.

Around 14% of these received moderate to severe wounds, including 377 head injuries, 308 eye injures and 104 spinal injuries.

43% of those who have been wounded on the battlefield developed psychological issues as a result, including depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

Another notable finding from the report posted on Tuesday is that before this war began, approximately 50% of IDF disabled veterans were classified as seniors, while only 8% were under 30. Now, there is a much larger percentage of wounded veterans under the age of 30, and the Rehabilitation Department of the Defense Ministry is adjusting its treatment programs accordingly with new programs to promote education and job training for individuals with disabilities.

Several private sector initiatives have also been launched to care for these wounded veterans.
