The IDF announced on Sunday morning that four reservists have been killed in action while battling Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. 14 others were wounded in the battle, which took place in a small village north of the Israeli border. The unit was the Alon Brigade’s 8207th Battalion and one of the slain soldiers was Captain Rabbi Avraham Yosef Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem, who was the unit's rabbi. The other three soldiers killed in the battle were named as Master Sgt. Gilad Elmaliach, 30, from Jerusalem, Captain Amit Chayut, 29, from Haifa and Major Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36, from Eitan. This brings the IDF's death toll in Lebanon to 33.
The battle was a small part of the ongoing campaign to drive Hezbollah further away from the Israeli border to ensure that residents of northern communities can feel safe returning to their homes.
However, Hezbollah continues to fire weapons at these communities, including a drone attack Sunday fired at the Bar Lev industrial zone between Acre and Karmiel. Two people were wounded in these attacks, requiring treatment by Magen David Adom firest responders.
The strike also damaged a factory belonging to the BAZ aviation components firm, which manufactures parts for both civilian and military aircraft.
However, the IDF said on Sunday that air strikes in Lebanon had eliminated at least 70 Hezbollah operatives and destroyed several tunnels and other military infrastructure in the last 24 hours.
This followed over 200 rockets and UAV's that were fired into Israel by Hezbollah on Saturday. Most were intercepted, while some landed in open areas causing fires that had to be battled by fire fighting crews.
Truck Ramming Attack Causes Several Injuries in Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital announced late Sunday morning that several patients had been admitted following a suspected truck ramming terror attack at Glilot Junction. One of the victims was listed in serious condition, while at least 34 others were also injured in the incident, some seriously.
Many of the victims were reported to be retirees who had just gotten off the bus and were preparing to visit a nearby museum when a truck travelling down the road suddenly switched course and crashed into them. The driver of the truck was shot dead by an armed civilian.
