Hamas’s armed wing spokesperson, Abu Obeida, announced on Saturday that one Israeli female hostage had been killed in northern Gaza during an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) airstrike. He further stated that another female hostage's life was in danger, though her condition remains unclear.

In response, the IDF stated it was "currently reviewing the information" but could not confirm or deny the accuracy of Hamas's claims. The IDF also emphasized that it was in direct contact with the family of the Israeli hostage in question, providing them with updates. It warned against spreading rumors that could harm the families of hostages, describing Hamas’s actions as psychological warfare.

The Israeli authorities stressed the cruelty of Hamas in handling hostages, and the IDF reiterated its commitment to securing their release. As the situation evolves, families of American hostages held in Gaza have expressed concern over the survival of their loved ones, fearing that waiting until January could mean they will not survive the harsh conditions in Gaza.

Jonathan Dekel-Chen, father of an Israeli-American hostage, voiced his concerns, urging both the Biden and Trump administrations to work together swiftly to negotiate a deal for the hostages' release before the harsh winter sets in. Despite efforts, the families have faced challenges in securing meetings with members of the incoming administration.

In light of the ongoing hostage crisis, these families remain committed to pressuring the U.S. leadership for action, with hopes that President Trump’s potential leverage at the beginning of his administration could lead to a swift resolution.
