The Israeli Air Force has been pounding Hezbollah targets all over Lebanon for weeks now, and overnight Thursday a strike was carried out on Hezbollah infrastructure in the Jousieh border crossing in the area of northern Beqaa Valley. This civilian border crossing between Syria and Lebanon is also used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons and other contraband, almost certainly with the cooperation of the Syrian military, which manages the crossing.
Hezbollah's unit 4400 is tasked with moving the weapons and ammunition from Syria into Lebanon, and the IDF said it used precision weapons to strike this unit at the crossing, in order to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians.
In response to a separate Israeli strike on the Al-Qaa crossing, Lebanon's transport minister, Ali Hamieh announced on Friday morning that the two border crossings between Lebanon and Syria are being temporarily closed.
In related news, the IDF confirmed on Friday that an airstrike had resulted in the elimination of Abbas Adnan Moslem, Hezbollah's Radwan force commander of the Aitaroun area in southern Lebanon.
In recent days, IDF ground troops have reported eliminating dozens of Hezbollah fighters and destroying several tunnels, bunkers and other military infrastructure in the south of Lebanon.
