Following a warning from the Biden Administration on October 13th that Israel had thirty days to alleviate the shortages of humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip or face sanctions on supplies of weapons and ammunition, the IDF reported on Tuesday that 237 truckloads of aid had been moved into the region over the past nine days. Despite this, the UN is urging Israel to pause its operations against Hamas in order to allow hospitals to receive fresh supplies of medication and equipment, as treating the large number of wounded people has caused them to run short.

The IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories said on Tuesday that 237 trucks carrying “food, water, medical supplies and shelter equipment from Jordan and the international community” have entered northern Gaza since October 13th.

“The IDF, via COGAT, will continue to act in accordance with international law to facilitate and ease the humanitarian response to the Gaza Strip,” COGAT said.

The announcement appeared to put an end to speculation that Israel was attempting to end the battle with Hamas by denying it the opportunity to steal humanitarian aid shipments, although the IDF has denied that any such plan was ever in place.
