The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed that three soldiers and a combat medic were killed in an explosion during a weapons search operation in the Tel Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, located in southern Gaza. The tragic event occurred on Tuesday, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
Among the fallen are Sarn (Captain) Daniel Maimon Toaff, Samr (Sergeant) Amit Bakhri, Samr (Sergeant) Dotan Shimon, and Combat Medic Agham Naim. Agham, aged 20, was the first female combat medic to be killed in the current Gaza operation. She was attached to the 52nd Battalion of the 401st Brigade.
The explosion left five other soldiers wounded, three of them critically. Initial reports suggest that the building may have been rigged with explosives, but the exact cause of the blast remains unclear.
This heartbreaking incident adds to the growing toll of the conflict. Since the ground operation began, 346 IDF soldiers have been killed, with 713 total IDF casualties since the war began.
In a deeply emotional post, Agham’s mother, Dorit, shared her fears about her daughter’s service and her pride in Agham’s bravery. "We live in hope," Dorit wrote. "May all our soldiers return safely."
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these brave heroes, who gave their lives to protect Israel. May their memories be a blessing, and may they rest in peace.
