The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of retaliatory strikes on Wednesday, targeting Hezbollah launchers in Lebanon after the terror group fired multiple projectiles into Israel over the previous day. The IDF's response followed a deadly rocket attack on the Nahariya region on Tuesday, which killed two individuals. Sirens also sounded in the Tel Aviv and Gush Dan regions, though no injuries were reported there.
In addition to the strikes on Hezbollah's launchers, the IDF conducted targeted operations throughout southern Lebanon, aiming to dismantle Hezbollah's terror infrastructure. These operations have led to the elimination of terrorists, the discovery of weapon caches, and the dismantling of several underground hideouts and storage facilities used by the group.
Overnight, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out intelligence-based airstrikes on Hezbollah's weapons storage facilities and command centers located in the Dahieh area of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold. These facilities were strategically embedded behind civilian areas, prompting the IDF to take several precautions to minimize civilian casualties, including issuing advance warnings to the population in the region.
The airstrikes are part of the ongoing Israeli military efforts to degrade Hezbollah’s military capabilities and dismantle its terror infrastructure in Lebanon. The IDF confirmed that operations would continue as necessary to weaken Hezbollah's ability to carry out further attacks.
Meanwhile, in Gaza, the IDF targeted a terrorist cell in Shejaiya, reportedly eliminating Yasser Ghandi, one of the attackers involved in the October 7 massacre in Israel. The IDF, with the assistance of the Israel Security Agency (ISA), has continued its operations against Hamas and Hezbollah targets, with over 120 sites struck in Gaza and Lebanon over the last 24 hours.
