Iran’s navy has officially received its first signals intelligence ship, a significant milestone in the country’s military advancements, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. The vessel, named Zagros, is equipped with cutting-edge electronic sensors designed for intercepting cyber-operations and conducting comprehensive intelligence monitoring at sea.

The Zagros represents a new category of military vessel for Iran, and it is expected to serve as a key asset for gathering intelligence and enhancing the navy's operational capabilities. Navy Commander Shahram Irani hailed the ship as the "watchful eye of Iran’s navy in the seas and oceans," indicating its importance for surveillance and national security.

This development comes shortly after Iran’s military took delivery of 1,000 new drones, strengthening its capabilities in both air and naval operations. The delivery of these drones and the Zagros signals intelligence ship aligns with Iran’s ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its military infrastructure.

The delivery of the Zagros ship and the acquisition of drones are part of a broader strategy by Iran to bolster its defense capabilities amid growing regional tensions. Earlier this month, Iran conducted large-scale military exercises, including simulations where elite Revolutionary Guards defended critical nuclear sites like the Natanz facility against mock missile and drone attacks.

These drills and procurement efforts come at a time of heightened tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Iran has already announced plans to raise its military budget by around 200% to further strengthen its defenses.
