In a significant military action, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that they had successfully targeted and eliminated Hezbollah’s envoy to the Syrian army, Salman Nimr Jamaa. This strike represents a key blow to Hezbollah's operations in Syria and their support of the Assad regime.

Jamaa, a veteran Hezbollah operative, held multiple strategic roles within the terrorist organization, including heading the Al-Khayyam intelligence sector and overseeing operations at Hezbollah’s Damascus headquarters. His role as envoy to the Syrian army enabled him to facilitate the transfer of weapons from Syria to Hezbollah, especially during the ongoing Swords of Iron war, posing significant risks to both Lebanese and Syrian civilians.

The Syrian regime’s support of Hezbollah has been a longstanding issue, with Syria allowing Hezbollah to operate within its borders and use Syrian territory for weapons transfers. The IDF emphasized that Jamaa’s actions directly contributed to the destabilization of the region and the endangerment of civilian lives in Lebanon and Syria.

Lebanese Families Return Amid Ceasefire

Meanwhile, the recently brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah has allowed Lebanese families displaced by the conflict to return to their homes in southern Lebanon, despite widespread destruction. Over 20,000 Lebanese refugees had sought refuge in Iraq, fleeing the intensifying conflict. Many are now making the journey back, hopeful for a return to normalcy despite the devastation.

While many Lebanese families are returning, others remain hesitant. The damage to infrastructure, including electricity and water networks, has left some homes uninhabitable.
