Israel has carried out significant airstrikes on at least three military bases in Syria, targeting locations housing helicopters, jets, and other strategic assets. Syrian security sources confirmed that Qamishli air base in the northeast, Shinshar base near Homs, and Aqrba airport southwest of Damascus were all hit in the Israeli raids. The airstrikes come as Syrian regime forces, led by Bashar al-Assad, withdraw from these key military sites.

In addition to targeting military bases, Israeli forces also struck a research center on the outskirts of Damascus and an electronic warfare facility near Sayeda Zainab, a region south of the capital. Several Syrian military vessels were reportedly sunk in their home port by Israeli forces.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, defended the strikes in a letter to the UN Security Council, labeling them as "limited and temporary" measures necessary to address immediate security threats. Danon emphasized that Israel's military actions were focused on safeguarding its citizens, particularly those living in the Golan Heights, and that Israel does not intervene in Syria's internal conflict.

Further bolstering security along the Syrian border, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to intensify operations in response to Syria’s recent occupation of Mount Hermon. The IDF will establish a security zone beyond the buffer area and work to strengthen relations with local populations, including the Druze community, to enhance stability in the region.

Meanwhile, concerns for the Kurdish minority in eastern Syria are growing, with the rise of extreme rebel factions that have reportedly abused minority groups. Sash, a Kurdish political activist, shared insights into the challenges faced by Kurds in Syria, emphasizing their long-standing alliance with Israel and their commitment to supporting Israeli efforts in the region.
