A source within Ukraine's military intelligence section told the Kyiv Post newspaper this week that on Sunday morning, Ukrainian Special Forces from the Khimik group of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) raided a Russian military base near Aleppo, in Syria. According to the report, the site was a facility the Russian military had set up to test and produce suicide drones and improvised explosive devices, which have been extensively used by both sides in the war.
The report included a video purporting to show the moment the GUR unit hit the Russian facility, detonating explosive charges which set off secondary explosions inside the building.
Although the report could not be independently verified, there have been several similar reports about clashes between Ukrainian and Russian troops in Syria over the past few months.
