A Russian-manufactured AMN-590951 "Spartak" armored vehicle has been spotted during military drills conducted by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces. Known for its robust mine and ballistic protection, the "Spartak" is typically used for troop transport and reconnaissance. While this vehicle is widely utilized by Russian military forces, its appearance in Iran's exercises highlights growing defense collaboration between the two nations.
Iran has been actively pursuing military upgrades, especially in light of ongoing sanctions and regional instability. While no official statements from Iran or Russia have confirmed the sale or transfer of these armored vehicles, their presence in Iranian drills suggests deeper military ties. This strategic partnership appears to be an important part of Iran's evolving defense procurement strategy, leaning more on Russian military technology.
Ukrainian Defense Forces Respond to Russian Strikes and Air Defense Attacks
In related news, on February 25, 2025, Ukraine’s Air Force reported a failed Russian missile strike after four Russian Tu-95MS bombers launched cruise missiles from the Engels region in Russia. The missiles malfunctioned and fell in northern Ukraine’s Zhytomyr region, causing destruction in a residential area but failing to hit military targets. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine released footage of the aftermath of the Russian Kh-101 missile strike.
The attack prompted neighboring Poland to raise its air defenses, with the Polish Armed Forces' Operational Command placing all available assets on high alert. The missile’s failure did not stop the escalation of tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defense Forces achieved a significant victory on February 24 by destroying a Russian S-300VM (V4) missile launcher in the Zaporizhzhia sector. The S-300VM is a long-range air defense system, and the destruction of this launcher severely weakens Russia’s ability to defend against Ukrainian air operations and missile strikes.
