Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had a private dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump International Golf Course in Florida recently. This meeting, shared by Communications Deputy Director Margo Martin on Twitter, marks a significant moment in the ongoing relations between Israel and the United States.

During the dinner, Sara Netanyahu raised the issue of the hostages taken by Hamas following the October 7 attacks on Israel. She highlighted the suffering of Israeli families whose loved ones are held captive under harsh conditions by Hamas. Netanyahu stressed the urgent need for international action to ensure the swift release of these hostages, a matter that remains at the forefront of Israel's national security concerns.

In a later post on Instagram, Netanyahu shared a photo of the meeting and reiterated her concerns, emphasizing the humanitarian crisis caused by the hostage situation.

Netanyahu’s Visit to Florida

Sara Netanyahu had traveled to Miami last week, where she plans to stay for about 20 days. Her trip coincides with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's legal proceedings, as he is set to testify in his criminal trial next week. While her husband is engaged in legal matters back in Israel, Netanyahu’s son, Yair, has been living in Miami since March 2023.

This meeting further illustrates the ongoing close relationship between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President-elect Donald Trump. Following the U.S. elections on November 5, Netanyahu publicly praised Trump’s victory, calling it “history’s greatest comeback.” The two leaders have reportedly maintained strong communication, aligning on key issues related to Israel’s security and international relations.

Legal Matters and Political Dynamics in Israel

While Sara Netanyahu was in Florida, her husband, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has faced legal challenges. Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara confirmed that there is no legal reason for Netanyahu to step down during his testimony. He is expected to begin his testimony in the coming days, which has drawn significant political attention both in Israel and abroad.
