Sirens blared across the Jerusalem hills, Beit Shemesh, Kiryat Arba, and surrounding areas early Monday morning as Israel faced a missile launch from Yemen. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that a single missile fired from Yemen was successfully intercepted, with no casualties reported. However, explosions were heard in Beit Shemesh and nearby locations, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams.

IDF Intercepts Missile from Yemen

The missile launch, which originated in Yemen, was swiftly detected and intercepted by Israel’s advanced missile defense systems. Despite the interception, explosions were heard in the Beit Shemesh area, leading to reports of a fire impacting local vegetation and a vehicle. Firefighters from Beit Shemesh were quickly deployed to the scene to contain the blaze, which was eventually extinguished without further incident.

Police and Magen David Adom (MDA) teams immediately began conducting a thorough scan of the affected areas for any potential damage or debris. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, though the situation remains a stark reminder of the volatile security environment in the region.

Rising Threat from Drones

In a separate incident, Israel’s Air Force (IAF) successfully intercepted four drones approaching from the east, which were reportedly launched by pro-Iranian militias operating in Iraq. Two of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were intercepted before they crossed into Israeli airspace, preventing potential damage or casualties.

These drone attacks, attributed to Iran-aligned forces in Iraq, have raised alarm in Israel, as they signify a growing regional threat. Pro-Iranian militias have been increasingly active in the region, and their use of UAVs to target Israel demonstrates the evolving nature of warfare in the Middle East.

Yemen's Houthi Rebels Claim Responsibility

The missile launch from Yemen comes amid ongoing tensions in the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have long been aligned with Iran, have escalated their missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia and other regional targets. In a statement broadcast by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television channel, the rebels took responsibility for the missile attack on Israel. They also accused the U.S. and the U.K. of carrying out airstrikes in Yemen’s rebel-controlled regions of Amran and Saada, escalating regional hostilities.
