The US Department of State has announced this week that it is leveling new sanctions on Iran's aviation industry over the delivery of ballistic missiles to Russia for use against Ukraine. Alongside the US, Britain, France and Germany also announced that Iran Air, the national air carrier of Iran which is suspected of allowing its planes to be used for the delivery of weapons to Russia, will no longer be allowed to use their airspace or land at their airports.
The State Department imposed additional sanctions on two shipping companies based in Russia which have been involved in transporting weapons from Iran via the Caspian Sea.
