Argentina and Israel Celebrate 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

In a special ceremony held on Monday at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, Argentina marked the 75th anniversary of its diplomatic relations with Israel. The event, organized by the Argentine Embassy in Israel, was attended by senior officials including Argentine Ambassador Axel Wahnish and several Israeli government representatives.

Argentinian President Javier Milei sent a heartfelt message to the ceremony, emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations. In his letter, Milei highlighted that the foundation of Argentina-Israel relations is rooted in shared values of freedom and democracy. He praised the ongoing work of the Argentine Embassy in Israel and expressed his admiration for Israel, its people, and their resilience in the face of adversity.

Milei also condemned terrorism, referencing the brutal attacks of October 7, and underscored the importance of speaking out against such violence. "Silence is complicity," he said, calling for the release of hostages and denouncing the cowardly terrorist acts.

Strengthening Ties Between Argentina and Israel

The relationship between Argentina and Israel has been longstanding. Argentina was the first Latin American country to recognize the State of Israel, and President Isaac Herzog praised this history. Herzog, speaking at the ceremony, said, "Under the leadership of my dear friend Javier Milei, relations are stronger than ever."

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana also expressed his appreciation for Argentina's commitment to combating terrorism, noting that Argentina’s designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization was a significant step.

With both nations recognizing the importance of their bond, the anniversary ceremony not only celebrated the past but also looked ahead to continued collaboration. President Herzog emphasized that Israel and Argentina will continue to stand united against terrorism, fostering an ever-strengthening relationship.
