A high-level delegation of Brazilian Congress members and diplomats visited Israel this week as part of a mission spearheaded by Nechama and Hatzalah for Israel. The initiative focuses on strengthening international advocacy and combating the rise of antisemitism globally.
The delegation, led by prominent Brazilian philanthropist Mrs. Alessandra Safra, met with key Israeli officials, including Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. Their discussions centered on bolstering ties between Israel and the Jewish diaspora, as well as reinforcing global efforts to address the growing wave of antisemitism.
A pivotal part of their visit involved touring southern Israel, where they visited communities severely impacted by the recent conflict. Delegates walked through devastated areas such as Kfar Aza, Be’eri, and the Nova festival site, receiving firsthand accounts of the destruction and trauma caused by the October 7th massacre. Moshiko Moskowitz, CEO of Nechama and Hatzalah for Israel, led the delegation, offering a detailed briefing that highlighted the scale of the violence and the ongoing suffering of Israeli civilians.
The delegation also visited Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The powerful exhibits at Yad Vashem left a lasting impression on the group, underscoring the importance of Holocaust remembrance and the urgent need to combat antisemitism worldwide. The visit deepened their commitment to promoting mutual understanding and ensuring the safety and security of Jewish communities across the globe.
Moshiko Moskowitz expressed his gratitude for the delegation’s visit, stating, “The fight against antisemitism and the strengthening of global advocacy efforts are just as critical as the military struggle on other fronts. This visit proves the importance of international cooperation and the need to reinforce ties with our allies worldwide.”
The visit marks a significant step in fostering stronger diplomatic and advocacy ties between Brazil and Israel, showcasing solidarity and a shared commitment to fighting antisemitism globally.
