In the midst of the ongoing Operation "Northern Arrows," reports indicate that Hezbollah is making significant preparations for a possible ground conflict with Israel, expanding its network of tunnels in southern Lebanon and acquiring advanced weaponry from Iran. According to the Wall Street Journal, Hezbollah has reinforced its arsenal with anti-tank missiles modeled after Israel's "Spike" system, posing a new potential threat to IDF forces.
These preparations come at a time when the IDF has escalated its strikes in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure and weapon depots in a bid to dismantle the terror organization's capabilities. Israeli Defense Forces Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari emphasized that Israel will do whatever is necessary to secure the return of northern residents to their homes after nearly a year of fighting.
Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has reportedly expanded the organization’s readiness, enhancing tunnel networks and repositioning fighters in southern Lebanon. The Iranian-backed militia has also received an increased supply of weapons, including RPGs and long-range rockets, directly from Tehran, according to American and regional sources.
Nasrallah has hinted at a willingness to confront an Israeli ground maneuver, calling it a “historic opportunity” for Hezbollah. Despite Hezbollah's show of strength, Israeli defense experts remain wary, understanding the complexities and potential challenges of a ground maneuver in Lebanon. As Defense Minister Yoav Gallant recently pointed out, "Hezbollah is not Hamas; the threat is different, and the terrain is more challenging."
In recent weeks, Hezbollah's attempts to push Israel into a war of attrition have intensified. But with Operation "Northern Arrows" in full swing, Israel’s strategic aim is clear: neutralize Hezbollah’s capabilities and restore security to the north.
As tensions rise, regional powers and experts continue to monitor the evolving situation closely, with fears that the conflict could expand into a broader, more destructive war. The IDF remains on high alert, and its ground forces continue training and preparing for any potential escalation.
