The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has taken a new turn as a missile launched from Lebanon triggered sirens in central Israel, including areas such as Gush Dan, Sharon, and for the first time since the war began, Netanya.
The IDF spokesperson reported that a single surface-to-surface missile was detected crossing from Lebanon and was successfully intercepted by the Israeli air defense system, preventing any casualties. Residents in Haifa and central Israel reported sightings of the interception.
Despite this latest escalation, the Home Front Command has announced no changes to the safety guidelines for residents in the central and Sharon regions, meaning schools will continue to operate normally. However, all educational institutions from Haifa northwards will remain closed for in-person classes until further notice.
In response to the morning’s missile launch, the IDF Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, reiterated his call for Lebanese civilians to evacuate homes containing weapons or rockets stored by Hezbollah, urging them not to return to the evacuated villages until further notice.
