Iran has issued a stern warning, vowing a "painful and precise" retaliation in response to the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Teheran in July. According to reports from Al Arabiya, Tehran continues to emphasize that its retaliation against Israel will be inevitable and unlike anything Israel anticipates.
Hossein Salami, the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, said the prospect of Iran's impending response is haunting Israeli leaders “day and night.” He added that the regime in Israel is in a state of imbalance and on high alert as they await the Iranian retaliation.
The Iranian regime has not yet disclosed the exact timing or method of the response, though they assure it will be carefully calculated. Some U.S. officials have suggested that Tehran may delay its action to allow international mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, and the U.S., to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza.
US President Joe Biden reportedly proposed that a ceasefire agreement in Gaza could lead to Iran postponing any offensive actions. The U.S. has also issued warnings to Iran, cautioning against launching a major missile strike on Israel due to the potential escalation in the region.
The assassination of Haniyeh on July 31, followed shortly by the killing of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, has only heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. Both nations have increased their military readiness, underscoring the serious risk of a broader conflict as the situation remains volatile.
With the region on high alert, Iran’s next move could further destabilize the Middle East, with global powers closely monitoring the situation.
