Israeli news portal N12 published an exclusive report Sunday morning saying that former Prime Minister Naftali Bennet is seriously considering a return to politics, after taking a long break. The report went on to quote several polls that indicate that a political party led by Bennet would do very well in the next election, which by law must occur sometime before the autumn of 2026, if not sooner.
Several polls show Bennet as being considered the most suitable candidate to be Prime Minister of Israel, with a poll published by N12 on Friday showing Bennet led current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by 40% to 29%. In the same poll, opposition leader Yair Lapid received 29% of support compared to 31% for Netanyahu.
Some analysts have noted, however, that if Netanyahu were to announce that he's not running in the next election, it would likely cause many factors to change and the eventual election results would be almost impossible to predict.
