The recent operation by the IDF to eliminate senior terrorists in Tulkarem’s Nur al-Shams refugee camp, including the head of the terror organization, Mohammed Jaber ("Abu Shuja’"), has significantly impacted the local population. Over 150 homes were damaged, with 30% of residents choosing to leave the area due to the continued clashes between IDF forces and terrorists.

Despite Jaber being seen as a symbol of resistance, many residents expressed satisfaction with his removal, as his leadership caused immense damage to the camp and disrupted civilian life. Israeli security sources indicate that following the elimination of these figures, the local population is showing a desire for calm, distancing themselves from further terrorist activity, such as bomb placements and the use of civilian infrastructure for militant purposes.

During the operation, security forces discovered weapons, explosives, and tunnels within the camp, underlining the extent of terrorist activity. Intelligence provided crucial information on the whereabouts of Jaber, allowing the forces to conduct a "pressure cooker" operation, leading to his death during an attempted escape.

The operation also eliminated other key figures, including Jibril Jibril, a known Hamas operative who had been released in a previous prisoner exchange deal. His rapid return to terror activities following his release highlights the ongoing challenge of combating organized terror cells in the region.

Residents now face an uncertain future, hoping for a return to stability and looking toward the Palestinian Authority for governance. Meanwhile, the Israeli government remains committed to ensuring security and dismantling terror infrastructures across the West Bank.
