U.S. President Donald Trump recently commented on the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, urging Israel to avoid military action against Iran's nuclear facilities. In a Thursday statement, Trump expressed his hope that the situation could be resolved without further conflict. He said, "It would really be nice if that could be worked out without having to go that further step," referring to a potential strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

This remark came as Trump signed a series of executive orders in the Oval Office, including one that designates the Houthi movement in Yemen, aligned with Tehran, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). Iran condemned this move, calling it a "baseless" decision that would only worsen the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

Meanwhile, concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions are growing. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran has accelerated its uranium enrichment to nearly weapons-grade levels. UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi stated that Iran is enriching uranium at a rate of more than 30 kilograms per month, a significant increase from previous levels. This brings Iran closer to the threshold for nuclear weapons production, which has drawn condemnation from Western powers.

Despite these tensions, President Trump expressed hope that Iran would come to the negotiating table and make a deal. "If they don’t make a deal, that’s okay too," Trump added, leaving open the possibility of further diplomatic engagement. Grossi also noted that there seems to be a willingness from the new U.S. administration to engage diplomatically with Iran to prevent further escalation.

The situation remains volatile, and global leaders, including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, have urged Iran to clarify its intentions regarding nuclear weapons. Guterres stressed the importance of Iran taking the first step toward peace by renouncing the development of nuclear weapons and engaging constructively with the international community.
